Thanks 2015, Hello 2016!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

I can’t believe that it’s been 6 months since エリ and I started this blog. What began as a blog about our language exchange grew to include posts about travel and test preparation, and anything else that we found interesting.

2015 was full of change for both エリ and I. When we started writing together, she had just finished moving to Texas. Our language exchange group welcomed several new members and was able to continue meeting through the fall.

I spent more time studying in 2015 than I have in a long time. Preparing for the JLPT was a challenge, but I’m glad that I took the test. Even if the results aren’t what I’m hoping for, there’s always next year.

For me, the biggest change this year has been moving to Minnesota. After living in the Bay Area for 5 years, getting used to my new surroundings has been a big adjustment. There were three snowstorms during my first week here!

It’s traditional to think of a few resolutions for the new year, so here are a few things that I’d like to work on in 2016.

  • I won’t know the results of the JLPT until February, but pass or fail I’d like to continue to study Japanese.
  • I would like to learn the basics of being a translator.
  • I want to get used to my new town!

Thanks to everyone who has followed along with us over the past 6 months.

Best wishes for the new year.
